‘Sakura’ translates to ‘Cherry Blossom’

Rose comes in many expressions and has
evolved into the wine for all seasons and all
occasions….
Expression was our cue for ‘Sakura’ (Cherry
Blossom), she is vibrant and fun, but not to be
taken lightly as she has layers of personality and
more than enough sophistication for any
company.
If you’ve ever walked the cobblestone streets of
the Mediterranean at twilight you will have
witnessed the vibrancy and free spirit of the
people as they laugh and celebrate another day
lived well!
As the light transitions from the speckles of sun
to the gentle lustre of dimmed globes in small
bars and restaurants, the people join with
friends and family to share the discoveries of the
day, often with a glass of wine in hand!
This sense of freedom inspires us to create our
‘Freewill’ series of wines.
Sakura is a blend of 69% organic / biodynamic
Sangiovese and 31% bush vine Grenache, all
hand-picked and whole bunch pressed to a
variety of tank and aged French oak. The tank
portions are kept super cool and crisp, capturing
the cherries and strawberry notes. Whilst the
barrels are left on their ferment lees for 3
months, building texture and complexity across
the palate. Making Sakura great company in your
glass as you live with freewill among nature,
family, friends and your community.

About In Praise of Shadows

In Praise of Shadows (IPOS) has been a lifelong journey for Brett Trewartha, born into farming in South Oz before the family moved into the hospitality business at the age of 15. From managing the family business, to lecturing at Southern Cross and Edith Cowan Universities, and somewhere along the line starting a wine distribution company in Perth – Brett has now ended up back on the land in South Oz, crafting some of McLaren Vales most beguiling and beautiful wines.

Grenache and Shiraz, (unsurprisingly) are the champions of the IPOS family of wines, what is surprising, however is the delicate hand with which they are raised – wonderfully fragrant, light in alcohol and lighter still on their feet- the wines of IPOS are the perfect foil for our Mediteranean climate here in Perth.
