This wine deserves to be served alongside your favourite white meat or fish dishes. Perfect for King fish with olive oil and fennel salad.

Notes
Our Small Batch Chardonnay is a mix of Bernard clones 75, 95, 96 known for their high quality, elegant wines. Dan Abotomey, our vineyard manger says that after the difficulties of the season, the 2022 vintage gave us some of the best Chardonnay fruit he has seen. The quality of the Chardonnay across our vineyard in 2022 is one of the reasons we have released a Small Batch wine.

Fruit was hand-picked and wild fermented in oak. The wine was matured on its yeast lees, and regular stirring has added a creamy richness. The Chardonnay was matured for 10 months in 100% French oak: predominantly 300 litre Hogsheads with 30% new oak. The cooler than average conditions of 2022 have given us a crisp, excellent Chardonnay with the typical Beechworth combination of minerality and finesse.

Minimal intervention is required to maximize chardonnay characters and to allow the soils and the character of the region to be displayed.

About Indigo Vineyard Wines

The Indigo Vineyard is located near the hamlet of Everton in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The region enjoys beautiful views, fine dining, wonderful local produce, historic Beechworth streetscapes and is recognised for outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The hot days and cool nights, granitic sand and clay loam soils and a location in foothills of the Victorian Alps combine to create an amazing terroir for growing super premium grapes.

Located between Beechworth and Wangaratta, the Indigo Vineyard has 46 hectares planted to 11 different varieties of grapes.

The vineyard soils range from granitic sands to clay loams. Most of the vineyard is undulating North-South and East facing. This ensures maximum light interception, but minimises the harsh afternoon summer sun.
