Grapes from beautiful 35-year-old Grenache vines in the Adelaide Hills. These are the oldest Grenache vines in the Adelaide Hills, and they perform perfectly in our Rose.

To the Grenache we add about 20 % Pinot Gris grapes from the same vineyard to add a lusciousness to the mid palate of the wine.

With a mentor vigneron from Provence to assist, we tried to capture the essence of the Provencal style using all the secrets. Cold harvest, cold stabilisation before ferment which is a French term for using juice lees to add power and texture and then a cooler ferment.

Texture and a tension between phenolics and acidity which for me characterises the style and the wine I wanted to make.

About La Bise Wines

La Bise, French for ‘the kiss’, is a collection of wines that allow Tash to explore beyond Barossa Valley. Each vintage we search the Adelaide Hills vineyards for quality fruit to produce the wines that are ‘distinctive’ to that vineyard and express the unique flavours of the vineyard through the grapes. We often find vineyards in need of love and attention and by rejuvenating these vineyards we give them “the kiss of life”.

Wines under the La Bise label come from vineyards that I believe have benefited from this magical “kiss of life”.
