The second white blend in the Les Cortis range again marries Chardonnay (60%) and Altesse (40%), but the plots and vinification differ from Mérune. La Guele is a small plot at 350 metres with 45-year-old Chardonnay and Altesse vines planted in deep limestone soils.

Then, the original Les Cortis plot lies on more silty, stony soils at just over 300 metres, and its Chardonnay vines are pushing 65 years old. Unlike the Mérune, Naxide matures in barrel and demi-muids on fine lees. The quality of the barrels and micro-oxygenation lend further complexity and dimension to Decosters’ “serious white”.

Once again, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

About Les Cortis

Domaine Les Cortis is Isabel Coiffier and Jeremy Decoster. Though their domain is brand new (first vintage in 2016), Jeremy’s years of experience with some of the world’s most venerated, natural winemakers has been evident in his first wines.

After years working with Agnes and Olivier De Moor, Lilian Duplessis, and others, the couple settled in the Bugey region of the French Alps, between the peaks of the Juras and Mont Blanc, home to families of lynx and deer.

They are 500m up, on top of a rich blend of varigated soil. Everything is done by hand, biodynamically, organically and with minimal sulphur.

Fine Wine Cellars

On the one hand, our role as a merchant of all things wine & spirits could not be simpler. We aim to source the most delicious, the most authentic, and the highest quality products possible from Australia and around the world in order to offer them to our clients. We live or die by how well we perform this task. Of course things are rarely as simple or as easy as they seem. Hunting for wines & spirits is no different. Apart from the months spent travelling, countless days and evenings spent tasting and the outrageous wine expenditure in the name of ‘research’, sourcing quality wine and spirits requires expertise and experience. Understanding the potential of a producer and their products is much more than just a slurp and a spit.
