I have always been worried when winemakers make exalted claims that each vintage is the vintage of the century.

The wet spring made us fear that another cold wet vintage was on the way, but as November came to an end so did the wet weather. The rest of the season turned out to be one of the most pleasurable that I have witnessed.  Cool ripening conditions with just enough rain so that the vines were perfectly set up to produce fruit of exceptional quality. We see if these wines will rival our best years of 2005 and 2017

‘80% whole bunch vinification may not appeal to all, but I am more than happy with the forest floor and soaring spices. 100% new French oak was justified, and has been almost entirely absorbed by the fruit.”.

About Lethbridge Wines

Lethbridge Wines is the Australian fine wine dream built with imagination, fearless determination, perspiration, integrity and confidence.” Andrew Caillard, MW Goumet Traveller Wine July 2009

Our aim is to produce natural, savoury wines that focus on balance and texture with a real sense of place or terroir.

The Flagship Vineyard in Lethbridge, located 30 km north west of Geelong, was originally planted in 1874 by Swiss immigrants and was replanted by the owners of Lethbridge Wines in 1996. This vineyard is managed using sustainable principles, informed by organic and biodynamic practices.

Maree Collis and Ray Nadeson are not your average winemaker/owners of a boutique winery. Both were initially trained as research scientists and hold PhD degrees in chemistry and medicine, respectively. Mid career they made the decision to pursue their alternate passion and together with friend Adrian Thomas established Lethbridge Wines in 1996.

Both Maree and Ray completed their winemaking degree at Charles Sturt University after which Ray concluded “winemaking is not really that different to science, both are creative and both involve 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration”.

Fine Wine Cellars

On the one hand, our role as a merchant of all things wine & spirits could not be simpler. We aim to source the most delicious, the most authentic, and the highest quality products possible from Australia and around the world in order to offer them to our clients. We live or die by how well we perform this task. Of course things are rarely as simple or as easy as they seem. Hunting for wines & spirits is no different. Apart from the months spent travelling, countless days and evenings spent tasting and the outrageous wine expenditure in the name of ‘research’, sourcing quality wine and spirits requires expertise and experience. Understanding the potential of a producer and their products is much more than just a slurp and a spit.
