Dark berry aromas complemented by floral hints and a subtle sweet tobacco influence that is so typical of the variety. The palate is bursting with juicy black fruits, a touch of oak and a soft easy-going tannin structure making it perfect for any kind of barbecued meats.
Machine harvested before grape sorting, in vineyard and winery, and complete de-stemming. Fermented in open stainless steel tanks at a cool temperature with hand plunging for seven to ten days. Primarily matured in stainless steel with around 20% matured in seasoned French oak.
It might be a little wine, but it’s got giant flavour. It’s an unlikely emblem for such a successful wine, but it’s the combination of the short stumpy bottle and the eye-catching wombat on the label that has made this such a perennial favourite. Fruit sourced from South Australian vineyards have created a wine with a cult like status.
