A delicious light blend of Grenache and Mourvédre organically grown on clay, sand, silt and gravel with a topsoil rich in iron oxide in the Nagambie Lakes region.

Quite floral aromatically with roses, lavender and fresh cherry. The palate sees crunchy cherry, fresh raspberry and stewed plums meet savoury sage and rosemary, the slightest hint of cocoa powder. Light on its feet with fresh acidity and some rusty iron and salty minerality make it moresih and salivating.

Certified organic, Grenache 60% and Mourvèdre 40%. The fruit was sourced from two parcels in the Nagambie Lakes region in Central Victoria, where the soils are a combination of clay, sand, silt and gravel with topsoils rich in iron oxide. The Grenache was hand-picked in late March and fully destemmed, then fermented wild in cement at warm temperatures with regular pump-overs for two weeks.

It was aged in old hogsheads. The Mourvèdre was hand-picked in early April and whole-bunch pressed to stainless steel for a cool ferment before resting on gross lees for a few months. The two wines were blended in early summer, then bottled unfined and unfiltered in late December.

About Little Reddie

Pat Underwood uncovers unique vineyards in Central Victoria, from dry-grown plots in Malmsbury, obscure plantings of indigenous Venetian varieties or iron rich sites planted to beautifully bloody and mineral Nebbiolo.

His relationships with his growers are fierce, and he works alongside them wherever he can, sharing ethics and values on the land and in the cellar, with passionate intuition and minimal intervention.

Pat Underwood is the mind, hands and palate behind the charming wines of Little Reddie.

Pat takes fruits from across multiple well-farmed sites across Central Victoria. These are, by and large, vineyards and regions that fly under the radar. Well, Pat is making more and more people sit up and take notice.

He makes everything from classic, straight-down-the-line Shiraz and Chardonnay to more esoteric blends and naturally made experimental wines. These are joyful, friendly, charismatic wines from a young guy who shares those same characteristics.

Fine Wine Cellars

On the one hand, our role as a merchant of all things wine & spirits could not be simpler. We aim to source the most delicious, the most authentic, and the highest quality products possible from Australia and around the world in order to offer them to our clients. We live or die by how well we perform this task. Of course things are rarely as simple or as easy as they seem. Hunting for wines & spirits is no different. Apart from the months spent travelling, countless days and evenings spent tasting and the outrageous wine expenditure in the name of ‘research’, sourcing quality wine and spirits requires expertise and experience. Understanding the potential of a producer and their products is much more than just a slurp and a spit.
