This wine is made from Picpoul grapes grown on the Lloyd Brothers cool climate vineyard in the Adelaide Hills and is believed to be the first and only Adelaide Hills Picpoul.

Pale in colour, this bright, fresh Picpoul has lifted aromas of Spring blossoms, lemon myrtle and lemon zest. The palate displays green apples, honeysuckle, lemon and lime making it a lovely fresh, crisp drinking white wine. Originating from the South of France, Picpoul is famously paired with Oysters and seafood. Best enjoyed chilled.

91 points Halliday Wine Companion – “There’s claim that this is the first (and only) Adelaide Hills picpoul going around. The wine is refreshing and pure in its feel. A delicate, seaside kind of white with lemon blossom, kiwi fruit and briny scents. Offers flavours of more kiwi, some lime and soft mandarin-like sweet-sour characters. There’s a good extension of flavour and a pleasing, saline minerality through the finish. You can see oysters in its future. It’s a great wee drink, best consumed in vigorous youth.” – Mike Bennie

91 points The Wine Front – “Pear, green apple, lemon zest, a light floral top note. It’s tight and bright, green apple and lemon, with a fine chalky grip, some grapefruit pith and green herb, and a clean finish of good length offering a briny aftertaste. I like the texture and tangy energy here” – Gary Walsh

About Lloyd Brothers Wines

Lloyd Brothers is a family owned winery and olive grove located in the heart of McLaren Vale. Lloyd Brothers wines and olives are handcrafted to highlight the very best of the fruit grown on our Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale Estates. The 65 hectare McLaren Vale Estate is home to the cellar door, winery and purpose built barrel hall which plays host to impressive festivals, weddings and events.

The Lloyd Brothers, David and Matthew are third generation South Australian vignerons. Their grandfather started planting vines and making wine in McLaren Vale in the 1960’s. David and Matthew now have their individual vineyards in the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale. David owns and operates Lloyd Brothers Wine and Olive Company with his 65-hectare McLaren Vale Estate being home to the winery and cellar door. The Lloyd Brothers McLaren Vale Estate comprises 16 hectares Shiraz, 3 hectares Grenache and just under 1 hectare of Mourvèdre and is home to the first commercially planted Kalamata olive grove in South Australia.

Lloyd Brothers wines and olives are hand crafted to highlight the best fruit grown on the Estates with their McLaren Vale property also playing host to impressive festivals and events.

In 2015 David purchased his Vineyard on The Range in the southern region of the Adelaide Hills overlooking McLaren Vale. Miegunyah is a beautiful 45-hectare property with just over 25 hectares planted to vines. Most recently David has planted 2 hectares of what is believed to be the first Picpoul Blanc planted in the Adelaide Hills along with 1 hectare of Prosecco to complement the well-established Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio.

Matthew’s vineyards are located in the Adelaide Hills sub region of Lenswood giving Lloyd Brothers contrasting characteristics when creating and defining the range of cool climate wines they produce.
