Marco Gavio Chianti Classico is a full bodied wine with a great structure, excellent balance and persistence. A very complex and elegant nose, lots of dark fruits along with floral and spicy notes.

This wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barriques followed by at least 6 months in bottle and its this slow ageing in French barriques which enhances the wine with notes of vanilla, tobacco and cocoa.

Blend: 95% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo

Ageing: 12 months in 50hl Slavonian oak barrels followed by at least 6 months in the bottle.

Planting density: 3,500 – 6,200 plants per hectare

Yield per hectare: 50 hectoliters per hectare

Terroir: 15 years old vineyards located in Castellina in Chianti. Clayish and sandy soil. Spurred cordon as training system.

Vinification: 12 days fermentation on the skins in controlled temperature cement tanks. Separate fermentation of Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes.

Tasting notes: Young and fresh wine. Light ruby red colour. Pleasant and harmonious nose, cherry and violets. Average body, good balance between tannins and acidity, with good taste persistence.

Food pairing: Ideal with meat, medium-hard cheeses, tasty soups.

MARCO GAVIO Tuscany, Italy

The UNESCO world heritage listed Trulli break up the picturesque vineyards of Puglia. The original Agricola Gavioli was founded in the 1970s in the heart of Tuscany. Once passed down from father to son, it was decided the business needed a new lease of life so the Marco Gavio brand was introduced. Classic, stylish Tuscan reds, with Chianti Classico and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano the stand-outs.

A story that began in the 1970s, when Sergio Gavioli, who moved to Chianciano Terme, opened a small winery… a few grapes selected to produce high quality wines, immediately appreciated all over the world.

Sergio Gavioli transmitted his passion to his son Marco, who today has the leading role in the ambitious project to give a new identity to Agricola Gavioli.

Marco has selected a new location with an exciting view of the vineyards, a symbol of his immense passion for grapes. Those same grapes are the real protagonist of a quality wine.

Marco’s vision has come to life in the new corporate brand. The name Marco Gavio is accompanied by a shield whose modern lines combine the spirits of Tuscany: a land of wine tradition with a constant look to the future.

From the experience of the Rinomata Cantina Tombacco and from the creativity of the designer Raimondo Sandri, new wines were born! They will be the true ambassadors of this story.

The new logo is the absolute protagonist of the labels and is accompanied by a golden line: an element that symbolically embraces the bottle… exactly like Marco embraces the vines, so that grapes grow strong!

From small beginnings we now operate across NSW, QLD, VIC and WA as well as in our home state of South Australia.
