Naked Run ‘BWC’ Barossa Valley Shiraz is named after the three proprietors of the company – Baraglia, Wood and Currie. The fruit for this wine is sourced from a low yielding single vineyard in the highly regarded sub region of Greenock in the Barossa Valley. The fruit is crushed and destemmed into small open fermenters. Some of the ferments undertaking natural fermentation for 12 days on skins and then pressed to new and older French and American oak barriques. After 20 months of maturation, the wine is bottled.

The BWC Shiraz is a deep cherry red almost black in colour. It shows lifted roasted meat, char and spice aromas on the nose. The palate is full bodied, powerful with a wonderful silkiness. Blackcurrant, plums, roasted meat and chocolate characters are well balanced with charry, spicy oak. Great structure with fine dusty tannins, a wonderful wine to drink now or to cellar for many years to come.

About Naked Run Wines

Born and raised in the Barossa Valley, the wine industry has always been a big part of Steve’s life. From an early age he ‘worked’ in his family’s small vineyard at Williamstown, which ultimately lead to a career in the wine industry. In 2003, after finishing an Oenology degree and a Viticultural diploma at the University of Adelaide he joined the team at Pikes Wines in Clare where he is now the Senior Winemaker. He is passionate about making wine and particularly loves working with Riesling, a variety well suited to the Clare Valley. His approach to winemaking is careful management in the vineyard and minimal winemaking intervention, allowing him to capture and showcase specific vineyard sites in every wine he makes. In late 2005 Steve and his wife Laura purchased a small vineyard in Sevenhill which grows Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet fruit. They live on the property with their three children Mason, Buddy and Evie.
