This range of wines, named after fashionable fabrics, feature the iconic paisley design for which the company is named. The pattern became synonymous with the Scottish Lowland textile town of Paisley, near Glasgow, the birthplace of Kirsten’s great-great grandfather, who emigrated to Adelaide in 1839.

Mataro is an undiscovered gem in the Barossa with it being a staple of Barossa Winemaking for many generations. It thrives in the warm Mediterranean climate of the Barossa Valley. The Denim Mataro encompasses all the wonderful varietal characters of Mataro. It is a medium red colour with lifted spice, earthy notes raspberry and plum on the nose.

The palate is medium bodied with great flavour intensity. Specifically raspberry fruit, some jubie notes, cherries, choc mint and eucalyptus. With typical textural Mataro tannins and a dense full palate, it goes swell with all red meats. The wine is drinking beautifully now or can be cellared for up to ten years.

About Paisley Wines

Paisley Wines is created through the Kirsten & Derek’s love affair with the Barossa.

Together with their daughter, they reside among the fifteen premium acres of Shiraz, Mataro & Fiano that grace their hilltop family estate in Angaston, forming the bedrock of their portfolio.

They share the property with a couple of cats, some chooks and guinea fowl and a flock of cute sheep. Generational 80 year old Grenache & 40 year old Shiraz from the southern Barossa & old vine Shiraz from the Barossa’s western ridge embody the Paisley Wine story of family & regions.

Known for its vibrant label designs and paying homage to family, the Paisley Wines Fabric series celebrates the town of Paisley and Kirsten’s great-great grandfather’s journey from the Paisley in the Lowlands of Scotland to the City of Adelaide. The Mixed by DJ Deadly Series and the Celtic Series are anything but traditional and reflect the couple’s approach to life.
