Exceptionally drinkable. The nose is a melody of fresh berries with subtle spice and savoury earthy characters. The palate is soft, juicy and fleshy with flavours of cherry and plum. Soft tannins provide a lingering finish.

Some batches of Sangiovese were fermented at 30°C to extract flavour, tannin and texture while the remainder was fermented at a lower 23°C to help retain freshness and lifted fruit characters. The Shiraz was fermented separately at 25°C to extract more delicate aromatics and fruit flavour. Following fermentation both varieties were placed in stainless steel to mature and to impart freshness to the wine. The resulting wine is our “vino di tavola” Chianti style made for drinking now and every day.

Description

Pizzini are makers of Italian wine varieties and are based in King Valley, Victoria. The King Valley has established itself as the home of Italian grape varieties in Australia.

The shallow, rocky soils on the gently undulating slopes make perfect sites for Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese and Nebbiolo. While the more fertile zones along the valley floor leading to the King River grow fragrant Brachetto and crisp Prosecco. The wines are made by Joel Pizzini, the vineyards managed by Alfred Pizzini.

About the Pizzini Family
Alfredo and Katrina Pizzini built Pizzini Wines based on their passions and their commitment to family and Pizzini’s Italian heritage. Their winemaking dream began in 1978 when they planted the first vines on the property, then in 1994 the first wine under the Pizzini label was produced.

Today Alfredo and Katrina’s four adult children Natalie, Joel, Carlo and Nicole all work in the business alongside them.
