Deep crimson. Dark cherry, plum, licorice allsorts and dried herb notes. Very attractive tar, dark cherry, earth, old leather and spice flavours, fine loose knit/gravelly tannins with a lovely sweet fruit plume and juicy acidity to finish.
Drink 2023-2027 14.0% alc

Deep Red with Purple Hues, Juicy, crunch and mouth coating texture with plenty or Red and Blue fruits interlaced with spices and underlying floral elements.

Dried herbs, mocha add to this wine. The finish is soft and lengthy with the silky tannin structure.

The Fruit for the 2020 vintage was sourced from both vineyards in Eden Valley and the Barossa Valley to give the wine a richer flavours and intense spicy aromatics. The vineyard yielded 1.5T/acre of grapes for 2020 with the year bringing lower than average rainfall and higher than average temperatures. The Low yield brought intensity of fruit concentration along with ripe tannins. For the 2020 vintage the harvest began in midApril which is earlier than usual for this Montepulciano.

With this release, the winemaker’s intent was to capture more of the typical essence of the Tuscan style Montepulciano wines. The wine was matured for 10 months in 3 year old barrels – 80% French oak (quintessence) and 20% American. This release was bottled earlier than previous releases for a slightly lighter, more crunchy style.

Best when consumed as a younger wine but can be enjoyed over the next 3-5 years.
