About Santuario Malbec
Santuario Malbec over delivers on every front showing why Argentina leads the world in quality Malbec. Mendoza, where the fruit comes from, is in the far west of the country & is the biggest, most important wine growing region in Argentina.
Soils are loose, sandy & full of rocks, the climate continental. In Argentina the Malbec grape is the vinous equivalent of Messi or Maradona, & Santuario pays tribute to this Argentinean wine obsession. Salud!
Malbec & Mendoza
Though originally from southwest France, the Malbec grape found its ideal environmental conditions in Argentina for the production of exceptional wine. Mendoza is considered the best producer of Malbec in the world.
With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, low annual rainfall, and high altitudes, Argentina’s Mendoza region provides near perfect conditions for the growth of wine grapes.
Mendoza’s high altitude causes large fluctuations in day and night time temperatures resulting in grapes that ripen slowly to produce highly flavourful wines with good acidity.
With a history of viticulture dating back to the 1500s when the first vine clippings were brought over by Spanish settlers, Argentina has grown to be one of the largest producers of quality wine in the world.
