About Silverwaters Wines
Hercules (Herco) grew up on a cattle farm in South Africa and Emily grew up in Melbourne. We met each other in the UK whilst backpacking around Europe. After our travels, Herco moved to Australia with Emily, and they married and had three children.
After a long weekend away to Phillip Island we saw an 18-acre property that had a vineyard for sale and like most decisions in our life, we were spontaneous, took a risk and bought it. We thought it was a great opportunity for the kids to grow up on a farm and near the beach. We knew nothing about the wine industry or how to manage a vineyard, so we spent the next 6 years doing up the property and learning the ropes of the industry.
We were fortunate to have local wine makers that were always willing to teach and guide us. For many years we sold the grapes, this allowed us to perfect the running of the vineyard. We are excited that after many years of hard work we are finally launching our wine.
