The 2024 growing season in the Great Southern delivered dry conditions, ensuring the fruit developed slowly with strong flavours before an earlier than usual harvest. This vermentino vineyard site is in the Mount Barker subregion of the Great Southern. It consistently produces a style of vermentino with great purity, lovely refreshing acidity and well-developed varietal flavours.

The vermentino grapes were picked and left on their skins for approximately eight hours before being pressed to a small stainless-steel tank. A long, slow, cold fermentation followed to preserve the delicate fruit characters. The wine was racked off its lees straight after fermentation to retain its subtle texture and floral notes. It was bottled in August 2024.

The wine displays hints of sea spray, and subtle summer florals with orange blossom characters. The mouth feel is softly textural with a briny minerality, some savoury tones and lots of natural acidity leading to a crisp citrusy finish. This wine can be enjoyed as an aperitif but shows its best with food and is well suited to complement seafood dishes.

About Singlefile Wines

Singlefile Wines represents our family’s pursuit of excellence. Every wine in our range embodies a drive to craft wines of exceptional quality from Western Australia’s Great Southern wine region.

At Singlefile we strive to excel in every task that comes before us. From rigorously analysing soil composition and climatic variations through to vigour in the winery, Singlefile’s approach to winemaking is nothing short of singular.

Singlefile’s wines are expressions of the unique terroir of the Great Southern wine region, which imparts distinctive attributes to the parcels of fruit that alight in our winery. We hand pick sites that best suit each of our varieties. Invariably, these sites are premium cool-climate settings, boasting supreme conditions to grow grapes of outstanding quality.

Singlefile fruit is treated as naturally as possible, allowing the beauty of the grape to shine in the final wine. In the winery, we also embrace the “less is more” practice, where wines are allowed to develop with minimal intervention.
