The 2022 vintage of the Clément V is mataro (54%), shiraz (41%) and grenache (5%). The wine has bright, perfumed aromatics of red berries, plum and spices with subtle savoury elements. The palate is plush, with a smoothly textured mouth feel, subtle savoury undertones and fine-grained chewy tannins. A medium bodied red wine that is suited to be enjoyed with food.

The Southern Rhône region of Châteauneuf du Pape is a significant wine region of the world and Singlefile’s Clément V is our salute to the role this “Avignon Pope” played in establishing the viticulture and wine style of this region. This wine is a blend of the classic Châteauneuf du Pape varieties of grenache, syrah (Rhône clones 877 and 470 originally from Hermitage) and mataro (also known as mourvèdre).

All three of these varieties are grown in the Riversdale Vineyard, Frankland River. The 2022 fruit was picked on 13, 19 and 22 April 2022, with varietal batches kept separate throughout. The fruit was sorted and cold soaked separately in small fermenters for two days, before undergoing an extended and gentle maceration.

Approximately thirty percent of the wine was matured in new oak barriques, the balance going to two and three-year-old barriques for twelve months before the varietal blending, settling and preparation for bottling.

About Singlefile Wines

Singlefile Wines represents our family’s pursuit of excellence. Every wine in our range embodies a drive to craft wines of exceptional quality from Western Australia’s Great Southern wine region.

At Singlefile we strive to excel in every task that comes before us. From rigorously analysing soil composition and climatic variations through to vigour in the winery, Singlefile’s approach to winemaking is nothing short of singular.

Singlefile’s wines are expressions of the unique terroir of the Great Southern wine region, which imparts distinctive attributes to the parcels of fruit that alight in our winery. We hand pick sites that best suit each of our varieties. Invariably, these sites are premium cool-climate settings, boasting supreme conditions to grow grapes of outstanding quality.

Singlefile fruit is treated as naturally as possible, allowing the beauty of the grape to shine in the final wine. In the winery, we also embrace the “less is more” practice, where wines are allowed to develop with minimal intervention.

Partners in Wine WA

Kirk and Rebecca welcome you as a Partner in Wine! We are a couple of West Australians who met over a bottle of wine, and whose love developed like a full-bodied red. Before long we found our weekends planned around West Australia’s diverse wine regions in an attempt to uncover smaller, niche wineries and the hidden gems amongst their delectable wine creations.

Like you, we appreciate good times and great wine – enjoyed with friends and loved ones – and our journey has taken us through each of the beautiful wine regions of this great state, sampling thousands of wines along the way.

Many WA wines are highly rated by the likes of James Halliday – Australian wine critic, winemaker, and senior wine competition judge – and many prestigious national awards are bestowed on our state’s wine produce each year. WA’s wine is world renowned and highly sought after, but at the same time a large number of boutique wines are hard to come by in major stores, with the winemakers choosing to sell only through their cellar door.

We choose small, WA-only boutique wineries so that you can sample a special drop from our own backyard. Every wine we have tasted and personally endorse, so join us for a taste of WA. Let your winery trail begin – from the comfort of your own home!
