Elegant, crisp and full of flavour this Traminer will have you reaching for another glass. Exotic flavours of rose petal and musk with zesty citrus and crisp acidity. A long clean finish that is both refreshing and more-ish.

Fruit from Richard Carson’s vineyard in the King Valley was picked in early March. The small parcel of fruit was given some time on skins before pressing into two batches. The first batch was treated clean and cold, well settled and inoculated, fermenting in stainless steel. The second retained it’s gross lees and was wild fermented in barrel. This created two distinct expressions of the fruit. The wine was blended and filtered ready for bottling in November.

About Spring Spur Wines

Spring Spur wines are handcrafted in small batches using gentle processing techniques. The winemaking process is guided by the fruit and allows for expression of the uniqueness of each individual site and vintage. Picked from selected single vineyards each variety is chosen due to its status as a family favourite.

The Winemaker
Alex Phillips was born and raised in South Africa; one of the most vibrant and diverse wine-producing countries in the world. She graduated cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch in 2013, where she was awarded the prestigious Prof PA van der Bijl medal and crowned Best Academic Student: Viticulture and Oenology.

After mentoring under celebrated winemaker Adam Mason at Mulderbosch Vineyards, she launched into vintages across the world before finding her feet as winemaker at Billy Button wines in the Alpine Valleys of North East Victoria. It is here she found love; not only in the picturesque winemaking region itself but in her husband, Lin.

The pair lives on Spring Spur – a beautiful working horse property in the Kiewa Valley where Alex is free to spread her wings and do what she does best – bringing Spring Spur Wines to life.

Spring Spur now offers accommodation and paddock to plate meals, function venue hire, and a wine label to complement its award-winning horse riding experiences. It is the passion of the Baird family and their love for it shines through in all that they do.
