Many wine legends have had their imprint on the cellar and have helped shape the modern St Hallett, but none more critical than Stuart Blackwell. Stuart started at St Hallett in1972 and ensuring integrity and a steadfast commitment to the region, has steered St Hallett to become a jewel in the crown of the Barossa. The Blackwell Shiraz was first released in 1994, in Stuart’s honour and his tireless contribution to the St Hallett story.

A classic Barossa Shiraz which can be savoured now and will continue to build complexity whilst carefully cellared. Fruit for the Blackwell Shiraz is sourced predominately from Northern Barossa from vineyards in the parishes of Ebenezer, Greenock and Moppa Hills.

Its structure is defined by dense, savory tannins, offering a harmonious balance that speaks to its potential for graceful aging over many years. This Blackwell Shiraz epitomizes balance, vitality, and the timeless allure of Barossa Shiraz.

Deep crimson. Fresh blackberry, mulberry aromas with hints of mocha and spice. Well concentrated palate with ample pure blackberry, mulberry, dark cherry fruits, fine bittersweet/ al dente tannins, pronounced acidity and some savoury complexity. Finishes firm and minerally with inky chinotto notes. Vibrant and juicy with very good density and impact. Would benefit from a touch of bottle age. About St Hallett Wines

St Hallett Wines represent the very spirit and soul of winemaking in the Barossa.

Established in 1944 by the Lindner Family, St Hallett represents the very spirit and soul of winemaking in the Barossa. Over this time, it has grown and changed and reinvented itself to achieve a rare distinction as one of Australia’s most respected wine brands.

For most of that time, it was owned, or part-owned, by one family, the pioneering Lindners, who arrived in the Barossa from Silesia in 1838. Through grim determination, heartbreak and near financial collapse, the Lindner family managed to make a meagre living – initially from ports and sherries and marsala – in their galvo shed in the middle of the Barossa. More than 70 years from these humble beginnings, St Hallett has established a reputation for making wines with exceptional quality and character.

From the beginning, St Hallett understood the importance of saving old vines and focusing on varieties that thrive in the Barossa region – particularly Shiraz. Over the years, St Hallett has built up a deep understanding of the rich tapestry of vineyard sites and climates in the Barossa.

With this, an appreciation for and knowledge of local growers and the finest vines and highest-quality parcels of fruit the Barossa can offer.
