About Tenute Orestiadi Wines
Tenute Orestiadi was founded in 2008 by the president of the Orestiadi Foundation and the president of Cantina Ermes, one of the biggest wine cooperatives in Sicily. Located in the town of Gibellina Nuova, in the Belice Valley, it is a place where art and wine come together. Following the devastating earthquake in 1968 that entirely destroyed the original town of Gibellina, some of the most prominent artists and architects in Italy designed the new town of Gibellina Nuova, 11 kilometres from the old one. Gibellina Nuova is considered one of the biggest outdoor contemporary works of art in the world.
Tenute Orestiadi vineyards have a set of unique terroir, characterized by different soils, specific microclimates and different altitudes to create wines that are the fruit of passion and dedication, as well as of a deep knowledge of the Valley and its micro-peculiarities.
In 2018, Tenute Orestiadi acquired La Gelsomina, a stunning 15-hectare property in Etna. They produce wines from the Belice Valley and Etna, focusing on the unique qualities of Sicilian native grape varieties such as Perricone, Nero d’Avola, Grillo, Zibibbo, Frappato, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, to name a few. They pay particular attention to the variety of soils in their vineyards and the way these interact with each grape variety.
