This is Ricky’s 11th year making TMV Pinot Noir, and it gets better each year. Beginning just south of Launceston, the Tamar Valley winds 50km north to its meeting point with the powerful Bass Strait. Produced from a range of different sites, the intent behind this wine is to reflect what the TTT team believes are the subregion’s standout characteristics.

Ricky’s Woodlawn Park site accounts for the majority of the blend (55%), with small parcels from Chartley Estate in Rowella (30%) and Jinglers Creek in Relbia (10%) included.

The Three Wishes and Waverley vineyards added the final piece to the TMV puzzle. The more southerly Relbia brings red fruits and fresh acidity, whereas Rowella lends spice and bright aromatics.

The Woodlawn fruit shares both sets of characteristics and brings harmony to the blend. Ricky picks over multiple passes. The ferment included 15% whole bunches, and the wine spent 10 months in barriques (10% new) before bottling.

About Two Tonne Tasmania

With the slogan ‘small parcels, big love’, Ricky Evans’ thoughtful winemaking approach has seen his southern star rise rapidly with a swag of accolades in a relatively short time.

Since his serendipitous entry into the much saught after sub-region of the Tamar Valley in 2013, he has garnered a reputation for producing some of Tasmania’s most exciting and hard-to-get small batch wines.

Pinot Noir is Ricky’s main game, and he plays hardball. His Pinots show brilliant light and shade. A gentle touch in the winery allows fruit and vineyard to shine – a theme that carries through his excellent regional examples of Riesling and Chardonnay.

The wines of TTT typify the purity and elegance of modern Tasmania.

Fine Wine Cellars

On the one hand, our role as a merchant of all things wine & spirits could not be simpler. We aim to source the most delicious, the most authentic, and the highest quality products possible from Australia and around the world in order to offer them to our clients. We live or die by how well we perform this task. Of course things are rarely as simple or as easy as they seem. Hunting for wines & spirits is no different. Apart from the months spent travelling, countless days and evenings spent tasting and the outrageous wine expenditure in the name of ‘research’, sourcing quality wine and spirits requires expertise and experience. Understanding the potential of a producer and their products is much more than just a slurp and a spit.
