About Weingut Dorli Muhr
A pioneering collaboration between Portuguese terroir impresario Dirk Niepoort and Carnuntum-native Dorli Muhr gave us Muhr-Van Der Niepoort and brought the obscure Austrian winegrowing region of Carnuntum (southeast of Vienna), to the world’s attention. A name change to Weingut Dorli Muhr took affect with the 2017 vintage, as did organic certification.
Weingut Dorli Murh, is named after the eponymous female owner/winemaker, the champion of Austrian red grape Blaufrankisch.
Previously a partnership with Dirk Niepoort known as Muhr-Van Der Niepoort, Dorli has been the sole owner since 2017, extending the vineyard area plot by plot, and achieving organic certification.
She is based in the winegrowing region of Carnuntum, southeast of Vienna, near the Hungarian border, the most recent Austrian wine region to earn DAC accreditation. Her most renowned vineyard on the Spitzerberg has also achieved Erste Lage (First Growth) status in Austria’s Klassifikation 2019.
Dorli makes wonderful, crunchy, pure Blaufränkisch from various sites in the stunning, limestone-rich hills of Carnuntum, as well as some complex Gruner Veltliner.
