Over the course of some 150 years, the Mudgee region has grown to specialise in full-bodied dry red varietals such as those of the Bordeaux family, which have thrived in the region’s sunny high altitude climate.

The Oatley family have a number of Merlot blocks across their local vineyards and whilst the resultant wines generally are blended with Cabernet, occasionally there are parcels so good they deserve to be presented on their own.

Bold, defined and rich, Wild Oats Merlot is well balanced with red fruit and plum characters.

Harvested at ideal ripeness in the cool of the early morning and fermented on skins to extract maximum colour, texture and tannin. Displays merlot’s typical plump, round flavour profile, with definitive red fruit and plum characters, soft velvety tannins and a pleasing finish. Enjoy with a range of red meat dishes now to five years of age.
