About World Wild Wines
The purpose of creating the Definidos wine range is to offer our consumers a vision of the great potential of the demarcated Dão region. These wines are delicate, precise, unique and authentic. These wines are designed for the most demanding customers, who seek originality and uniqueness. With great aging potential, the whites stand out for their minerality and freshness while the reds for fresh fruit accompanied by aromas of field berries and spices
Definidos wines are the younger siblings of Vinhos Imperfeitos.
The Dão is one of the most unique wine growing regions in the world. It is just east of Bairrada, but surrounded by the largest range of mountains in all Portugal. The Serra da Estrela to the south east, mainland Portugal’s tallest mountain range, exhume the region as altitude, old vines and grantric soils articulate the region.
These mountains protect the Dão from the warm Iberian winds coming from the east as well as much of the humidity that is typical of the coast. This creates one of the coolest, and relatively dry, regions in Portugal. The Dão has long been called “The Burgundy” of Portugal, and while a sub-alpine region like the Northern Rhone might be a more apt comparison in terms of geography and climate, it does get one thing across: the wines are defined by elegance.
