12 X 375ml Bottles

This velvety fortified wine is blended from antique barrels of our very best tawny, and laid down in our historic cellars over many years. The ageing process evaporates a tiny share each year leaving a rich, concentrated wine with nutty characters.

Classic dried fruit flavours, notably prunes, dates and figs, with nutty chocolate and spice. The fine brandy spirit provides a classic, drying finish.

Fermentation is arrested by fortification with fine brandy spirit. Small oak barrels are selected to mature the wine over time, developing the classic tawny characters. After many years of maturation, a selection of older and younger wines are judiciously blended to produce wines of complexity, balance of fruit and aged characteristics.

Best Enjoyed With: Stilton or hard cheddar, baked figs and pistachio ice cream, or ginger flavoured pudding. Can be served chilled. Refrigerate after opening to maintain freshness.

About Yalumba

While the Barossa is our home, we draw on the varied climates and soil types across Australia to make wines grown in some of the country’s finest wine regions.

The Yalumba story started with Samuel Smith venturing across the seas from England to a small town called Angaston in South Australia. He founded Yalumba in 1849, planting the first vine under moonlight with his son, Sidney. His bold, pioneering spirit has passed through the generations, influencing each of Yalumba’s proprietors throughout the years; Sidney Smith, Walter Smith, and Wyndham Hill-Smith, all the way through to our fifth generations proprietor today, Robert Hill-Smith..

Robert led Yalumba into the modern era by cementing our reputation as an internationally-focused and innovative business within the Australian wine industry. He pioneered Viognier in Australia, established Australia’s First Families of Wine and launched Yalumba’s most prestigious wine — The Caley Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz, honouring his great uncle Fred Caley Smith. Robert’s family carries on the legacy set in place by Samuel Smith, continuing to experiment and showcase the best the Barossa has to offer.

Yalumba operates the Southern Hemisphere’s only fully operational Cooperage, crafting bespoke oak barrels that elevate the wines aged within them. Our Nursery is a global leader in wine innovation, growing, evaluating and supplying quality grape vines to the Australian wine industry.
