The regional hero of the Barossa Valley is undoubtedly Shiraz, With the first vintage of this vineyard starting in 2005, this wine has been produced consecutively every vintage with volumes varying from vintage to vintage.

Every year, this has consistency and provenance, harvested by the fourth-generation grower. This wine sits on elevage in a 3000L French Oak Vat for twenty-three months prior to bottling. A Shiraz that shows the power of the Barossa, with elegance and finesse.

Awards & Reviews > 96 points – Shanteh Wale

Sourced from vines planted in 1988 on sandy loam soils over a red clay base, the wine is elevaged for 23 months in seasoned French oak vats and puncheons. This is a total feast for the senses and a truly special wine. What hits you first is ripe mulberries and stewed blackberries then sun warmed potting soil, Rosella flowers in syrup and rose bud. Mocha, cinnamon and powdered nutmeg with a recurring blue fruit or violet character that swings on by and keeps luring you in. This 2021 is only beginning to hit its straps, the fruit is pure and the earth tones are grounding. The palate is effortless and acidity soars like an eagle continuing to carry the flavours way beyond the hills. Magnifique. Drink now or cellar for a further 5 years. Pair with rabbit stew or slowed cooked wallaby tail.

About Yelland & Papps Wines

Yelland & Papps is for wine lovers and enthusiasts of small batch, individual, elegant and distinctive wines. Those wanting a connection with a passionate, hands-on family winery.

Susan & Michael Papps shared love of wine and dream of producing their own wines from the vineyards of the world-famous Barossa Valley wine region came to fruition in 2005 with the establishment of their boutique wine brand, Yelland & Papps.

From the earliest days of Yelland & Papps, the relationships with longstanding Barossa wine growing families with a reputation for excellent farming and the highest quality grapes formed the foundation of the fledgling wine business.

These long-term friendships with many of the region’s best wine growers, each farming their wines on a selection of the famous terroirs that we have recognised across the Barossa, give Michael and Susan boundless options as they compose their individual wines each year.

The purchase of their beloved Nuraip Road property in 2010, with it’s own estate vineyards and winery sheds offered increased options for quality control and took Yelland & Papps to the next level as their soulful and thoughtfully produced wines garnered much praise from wine critics and a legion of fans who enjoy purely-fruited, minimal-intervention wines from Australia’s most famous wine region.

Today, Susan & Michael bring up their young family, raise livestock, grow their own produce and produce a range of diverse wines that reflect the intricate soils and microclimates of the Barossa.
