Previously sourced for the Second Take Grenache, these 1953 vines produce the characters in Grenache that we are looking for, savoury undertones and intense structure.

Sourcing old Grenache vines is a priority for Susan and Michael, with the aim to express the different characteristics that lay within the different soil structures of the Barossa Valley.

This Survivor Vine vineyard of Grenache lies on the edge of the Township of Tanunda, with two rows allocated to Michael and Susan. Gently process of hand-picked fruit, left to ferment naturally and Elevage in French Oak puncheons with a small sulphur addition post ferment.

About Yelland & Papps Wines

Yelland & Papps is for wine lovers and enthusiasts of small batch, individual, elegant and distinctive wines. Those wanting a connection with a passionate, hands-on family winery.

Susan & Michael Papps shared love of wine and dream of producing their own wines from the vineyards of the world-famous Barossa Valley wine region came to fruition in 2005 with the establishment of their boutique wine brand, Yelland & Papps.

From the earliest days of Yelland & Papps, the relationships with longstanding Barossa wine growing families with a reputation for excellent farming and the highest quality grapes formed the foundation of the fledgling wine business.

These long-term friendships with many of the region’s best wine growers, each farming their wines on a selection of the famous terroirs that we have recognised across the Barossa, give Michael and Susan boundless options as they compose their individual wines each year.

The purchase of their beloved Nuraip Road property in 2010, with it’s own estate vineyards and winery sheds offered increased options for quality control and took Yelland & Papps to the next level as their soulful and thoughtfully produced wines garnered much praise from wine critics and a legion of fans who enjoy purely-fruited, minimal-intervention wines from Australia’s most famous wine region.

Today, Susan & Michael bring up their young family, raise livestock, grow their own produce and produce a range of diverse wines that reflect the intricate soils and microclimates of the Barossa.
