Gardners Vineyard

About Gardner's Vineyard Wines

The vineyard is situated on 65 acres of land in the idyllic undulating hills 10km north of Port Lincoln. With conditions similar to Margaret River, the area has proven to be ideal for growing wine grapes. The land was acquired in the 1970's and share farmed by neighbour Fred Docking. When Fred retired we engaged in a revegetation programme planting 4000+ trees.

In the mid 90's Rob had the mad idea of planting wine grapes. This was done whilst changing careers and soon we were trying to establish a vineyard while both working full time!

Through many years of trial and error, replanting, chopping vines down to re trellis and lots of blood sweat and tears it has gradually come together. In the early years, locals bought our grapes and their final products gave us hope that we were producing quality grapes and wine.

We now have approximately 40 acres of grapes with roughly equal plantings of Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

Now with our own wine label, our wine is being made by contract winemakers.

The Gardner's Vineyard logo/label design is based on a print we purchased from local artist Vicki Bosisto, which depicts the local area. Vicki has generously allowed us to use her print.
