This fantastically textural and refreshing Semillon Sauvignon Blanc comes from the loving and brightly nail-polished hands of Richard and Carla Betts, two travelling American ex-Sommeliers who have a deep love for the great wines of the world made from these varieties.

The Semillon fruit is grown by gnarled old bush vines in the sandy soils of the Vine Vale sub-region of the Barossa. A splash of SB from the Adelaide Hills adds a little pop and crackle to the finished wine.

The fruit is fermented in seasoned oak barrels for ten months at low temperatures. With that amount of time in oak, the waxy, creamy textural components of barrel ageing impart another layer to what is quite vibrant and aromatic Semillon with plenty of zip and crunch.

Inspired bu the great white wines of Bordeaux, this is a seriously good and seriously interesting take on old vine Barossa Semillon which will be beautifully with a wide range of foods.

About An Approach to Relaxation Wines

After falling in love with the legendary Grenache-based wine wines of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, USA-born sommeliers Richard Betts and Carla Rzeszewski found their way to Vine Vale in the Barossa Valley on a mission to make one of their own.

They purchased an old vineyard in the heart of the sub-region, one that had the deep sandy soils and cool nights that would make the particular ‘pinot-esque’ style of Grenache that really turned them on.

Their Grenache and Semillon releases are some of the Barossa’s most suave and interesting expressions.

Fine Wine Cellars

On the one hand, our role as a merchant of all things wine & spirits could not be simpler. We aim to source the most delicious, the most authentic, and the highest quality products possible from Australia and around the world in order to offer them to our clients. We live or die by how well we perform this task. Of course things are rarely as simple or as easy as they seem. Hunting for wines & spirits is no different. Apart from the months spent travelling, countless days and evenings spent tasting and the outrageous wine expenditure in the name of ‘research’, sourcing quality wine and spirits requires expertise and experience. Understanding the potential of a producer and their products is much more than just a slurp and a spit.
