About Château Eugénie
Château Eugénie is the fruit of a long line of passionate winegrowers. According to the departmental archives, we find traces of the Couture Family winegrowers in 1470, in the service of the Lord of Albas. And it is in homage to our great-great-grandmother Eugénie that the estate was so named.
Since then, we have perpetuated the family tradition thanks to the know-how acquired from father to son combined with modern winemaking techniques.
The Cahors vineyard is extraordinarily rich and varied, with soils of gravel, clay, silica, limestone and iron which sublimate the Malbec grape variety.
Planted on the terraces of the Lot valley, on half-slopes and on the plateaus of the Causse, the vines of Château Eugénie benefit from remarkable sunshine and transmit to our wines the identity of their different soils.
It is therefore through our work and constant attention to the vines that we can make the most of our different plots each year.
In Cahors, Malbec is king, but it can be blended with a small portion of Merlot or Tannat depending on the cuvées. This allows us to produce authentic wines with well-defined identities.
A great wine is first made with healthy grapes harvested at perfect maturity according to each grape variety and each plot. Each batch is then vinified and aged separately in vats or barrels to enhance the unique character of each cuvée. You are thus guaranteed to taste wines that reflect the great typicality of our vineyard.
