It’s easy enough to list the flavours: spearmint, boysenberry, dark chocolate and pure blackcurrant, but it’s the arrangement and more so the flamboyant flourish of them that really impresses. This is Dalwhinnie in dynamic good form. Integrated tannin ripples through the back half of the wine, as do sweet woodsmoke characters, and the finish is full of running and then some. 96 points. Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion 2023

The fruit for this wine was picked from small vineyard blocks on the Dalwhinnie estate where it was then fermented for 14 days in open top fermenters. Once approaching dryness, the wine was pressed directly to French oak barriques for a 20 month maturation. Careful barrel selection was carried out to blend this wine.

The wine is dark purple with red-black hues. There’s compelling and elegant aromas of cassis, fresh plum and bay leaf roll from the glass. There are notes of intense cassis, sour cherry and savoury dried herbs, with a powder fine tannin structure that pulls blackcurrant flavours long through the palate. Enjoy over the next three to eight years. – Julian Langworthy, Dalwhinnie Winemaker

About Dalwhinnie Wine

Hailed by critics and wine lovers alike, Dalwhinnie has been growing grapes for nearly 50 years and is now a fully mature vineyard, producing ultra-premium wines that are distinctive, elegant and reflect the benefit of a dry-grown vineyard.

Dalwhinnie is located near the small village of Moonambel in the heart of the Pyrenees region of western Victoria, Australia and is a super-premium producer of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

At 595 metres above sea level, Dalwhinnie is the highest and most remote of the Pyrenees district vineyards. Surrounded and sheltered by the highest range, this unique bowl of vines is located in a naturally undulating trough which falls away from the hills, forming an amphitheatre nestled into the ranges.
