About Bedouet Vigneron Wines
Henri Bedouet, born in 1899, a cooper and share-cropping wine-grower (sharing half of the harvest with the owner of the vineyards), took the first step of this journey with his wife Agathe. His son Henri, born in 1931, joined the journey in 1957. He began his career as a share-cropper, then began renting vineyards as a farmer in 1977. Alongside Marie-Jo, a native of the region, they continued the journey, always looking forward.
Michel, born in 1960, joined the journey in 1985, purchased the vineyards in 1990, and is still continuing forward. Following Seneca’s magnificent quote – “It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult” – he began converting the vineyard to organic agriculture in 2010; he harvested his first organic grapes in 2013.
Michel, winegrower since 1985, converted his vineyard to organic farming in 2010. Since then, with Antonin, they have rediscovered their job as winegrowers.
He is the soul of the estate bringing continuity from his ancestors to his children, and his great know-how as a winemaker and winemaker.
‘Agriculture’ comes from agro, ‘field’, and ‘culture’ comes from ‘cult’; from the Latin anger, which means “to honor”. To cultivate is therefore to honor the earth to make it fertile. We respect the balance of nature, bring the soil back to life so that the vines live in good conditions and bring healthy, quality grapes. This is how we can produce wines that fully express the potential of great terroirs, simply with finesse.
Our philosophy is to produce true wines, wines with beautiful minerality, lively wines. Wines with consistency which, from the nose to the palate, are the pure expression of the terroir. “Neither alcoholism nor elitism”, Epicurus could tell us, inviting us to virtuous pleasures.
Our wines are like us, they simply bring fraternity and joy. We conceive trade as a sustainable and fair exchange of goods, around shared values. This is why we work on each plot and each wine with the same attention, giving the best of ourselves.
The work in the vineyard is rigorous and precise, because it is there, closest to the grapes that the wine is made. Organic farming, with tillage, the prohibition of any synthetic chemical product and a management based on the life of the land and the vine, is both the base and the guarantor of this authenticity.
