AUSTRALIA WIDE SHIPPING INCLUDED

Classy Beechworth Chardonnay fruit with stone-fruit, citrus and creamy yeast adding complexity to the bouquet. A very gentle touch of French oak adds structure to an elegant wine. This wine is very similar to the 2021 Chardonnay, with its clean clear fruit and delicate but lingering finish. Its lean style demonstrates a sophisticated combination of fruit and oak.

Winemaker notes
Grapes were partially destemmed and no pressings were cut. The wine underwent wild yeast fermentation. After 12 months of maturation, it was bottled after minimal fining and filtration.

viticulture
Warm days and nights during November and December, combined with good soil moisture encouraged excellent canopy growth. December delivered 3 times the normal monthly rainfall. After the deluge in December, January heated up with sustained hot weather for much of the month. Fruit ripening was accelerated due to the warmer temperatures. The 14th of February saw the beginning of harvest 5 days later than in 2018. The chardonnay was handpicked on 22 February 2019.

Description

The Indigo Vineyard is located near the hamlet of Everton in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The region enjoys beautiful views, fine dining, wonderful local produce, historic Beechworth streetscapes and is recognised for outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The hot days and cool nights, granitic sand and clay loam soils and a location in foothills of the Victorian Alps combine to create an amazing terroir for growing super premium grapes.

Located between Beechworth and Wangaratta, the Indigo Vineyard has 46 hectares planted to 11 different varieties of grapes.

The vineyard soils range from granitic sands to clay loams. Most of the vineyard is undulating North-South and East facing. This ensures maximum light interception, but minimises the harsh afternoon summer sun.
