Deep purple red in colour. The bouquet is potent with blackcurrant, mulberry & cassis enhanced by spice, cedar, and floral accents. Medium-bodied in weight yet fine, elegant & layered. The palate is softly supply, brightly fruited with fine silty tannins, integrated cedary oak, & tobacco & black olive savoury notes on the long finish.

Reviews
95 Points, James Halliday’s Wine Companion 2019

A finer, leaner execution of this Bordeaux blend in this vintage but no less impressive. Heady with mulberries and cassis, pepper and woodsy spices with the tannins textural and surprisingly sandy; 18 months in French barriques (33% new). While the oak is integrated, a cedary fragrance lingers lightly. Long and pure on the finish. Drink by 2035. 95 Points Jane Faulkner, James Halliday’s Wine Companion 2019  > Rating: 95 / 100

93+ Points, The Wine Front.com

‘Small berries, spice, mint, cedar, floral top notes. Medium-bodied, crisp and lively, red and black fruits, fine almost sandy tannin, tobacco and aniseed, tight long finish. It’s a wine of many layers, quiet charm and restraint.’ Drink : 2019 – 2029 Gary Walsh, The WineFront.com, 24th December 2019 > Rating: 93+ / 100

About Juniper Estate

Juniper is a producer of premium wines in Margaret River, the heart of the remote, environmentally pristine winegrowing area lying in the south-west corner of Western Australia, 270km south of Perth. We are fortunate that Margaret River is where it is and, with its maritime influence, ancient soils and beautiful landscape is perfectly suited to the production of great wines.

The Juniper ‘Estate’ vineyard (formerly Wright’s) was planted in 1973 and, together with Vasse Felix, Cape Mentelle, Cullen, Moss Wood and Woodlands, is one of the founding vineyards of the region.

Juniper was established in 1998 by the late Roger Hill and his wife, Gillian Anderson, with the intention of producing wines which rank among the best to come from Margaret River and beyond.

Since 2017 Gillian and Roger’s sons, Nick and Tom, have run the business with the same ambition to make great wines from our own vineyards.

Juniper’s outlook combines the tenets of heritage, authenticity and original thinking with a view to producing wines of elegance and sophistication that showcase the best of the Margaret River region. We grow what we make and make what we grow, all from our distinctive vineyards in Wilyabrup and Karridale.

The sites are exciting in their differences, but their farming is united by sustainable and organic practices resulting in the best fruit possible that reflects each vineyard’s idiosyncrasies. Applications of compost from spent marc, sheep manure and the use of inter-row crops to fix nitrogen are all small examples of how we help sustain the natural balance of our land.

The wines we make reflect a combination of their place, vintage and variety, and are expressions of our passion, to be shared and enjoyed in good company.

A deep respect for the history of the region, and the pursuit to push boundaries, drives our outlook in creating wines that reflect their time and place. This begins with careful and thorough manual intervention in the vineyard and attentive yet minimal intervention in the winery.

Important to our philosophy is retention of the individuality of each parcel of fruit, with a block-by-block approach to their winemaking. This enables us control in blending, using complementary parcels to preserve the uniqueness and personality of our distinctive Margaret River sites. Oak maturation is used to enhance complexity and contribute to the refinement of the wines.
