This wine displays complex aromas of blueberry, plum and cassis, with gentle oak support. The wine is effortlessly mouth filling with juicy dark fruit flavours balanced with acidity and gentle fine-grained tannins which lead to a long finish. It is well suited to red meat dishes such as a roast leg of lamb with garlic and herbs.

The continental cool climate sub-region of Frankland River sits within the northwest corner of the Great Southern wine region (its latitude 34°39’S). The Riversdale vineyard, planted in 1997 on deep gravel over clay soils, on a north-south orientation, is located 7kms northwest of the Frankland River township.

The winter saw above average rainfall that continued into early spring. Summer was dry and mild with even temperatures throughout February, March and April. This provided perfect conditions to achieve optimal ripeness and the tannin profile required for premium cabernet sauvignon.

The fruit was picked and sorted in late-April 2022. It was cold soaked in a small fermenter for two days before undergoing a gentle and extended maceration. After the fermentation, the wine was left on skins for 18 days. Forty percent of the wine was matured in new Bordeaux oak barriques. The balance went to one-year old (30%) and two-year old (30%) Bordeaux barriques for fourteen months before the wine was then prepared for bottling.

About Singlefile Wines

Singlefile Wines represents our family’s pursuit of excellence. Every wine in our range embodies a drive to craft wines of exceptional quality from Western Australia’s Great Southern wine region.

At Singlefile we strive to excel in every task that comes before us. From rigorously analysing soil composition and climatic variations through to vigour in the winery, Singlefile’s approach to winemaking is nothing short of singular.

Singlefile’s wines are expressions of the unique terroir of the Great Southern wine region, which imparts distinctive attributes to the parcels of fruit that alight in our winery. We hand pick sites that best suit each of our varieties. Invariably, these sites are premium cool-climate settings, boasting supreme conditions to grow grapes of outstanding quality.

Singlefile fruit is treated as naturally as possible, allowing the beauty of the grape to shine in the final wine. In the winery, we also embrace the “less is more” practice, where wines are allowed to develop with minimal intervention.

Singlefile Wines takes its name from the resident geese, who parade gracefully in single file each day at dusk en route to the lake below the vineyards.

The crest on the Singlefile Wines label articulates the family’s international heritage. The springbok is the national animal for South Africa and appears on that country’s coat of arms. The stag is the emblem of County Clare in Ireland, where Patrick was born. Most importantly, the Singlefile moniker represents the drive to craft exceptional Great Southern wines.
