Awards & Reviews > 95 points, James Halliday Australian Wine Companion

Whole bunches of Grenache fed into French puncheons through purpose-built enlarged bung holes, pressed at the start of the ’15 and left for a further year, hand-bottled during the ’16 vintage ( 682 bottles, 20 magnums and 10 Jeroboams). You would never guess how this wine was made and matured if served blind. Points for bravery, time and effort, and its moderate alcohol.

A project and desire to push our winemaking starting in 2014, a project that has pushed us in many ways, and a project that has taught us with patience and time things will come together.

The Limited Cuvée wines are exceptional small parcels released only on selected vintages.

The Limited Cuvée wines first launched from the 2014 vintage when Susan & Michael Papps had a desire to produce some wines to push further some boundaries in their winemaking and a direction for some wines which were more linear and have ultra-fine tannins, with elegance and length.

The selection of fruit for the first Limited Cuvée Shiraz coming from a small .5 hectares dry grown vineyard in the Marananga sub-region of the Barossa Valley.

About Yelland & Papps Wines

Yelland & Papps is for wine lovers and enthusiasts of small batch, individual, elegant and distinctive wines. Those wanting a connection with a passionate, hands-on family winery.

Susan & Michael Papps shared love of wine and dream of producing their own wines from the vineyards of the world-famous Barossa Valley wine region came to fruition in 2005 with the establishment of their boutique wine brand, Yelland & Papps.

From the earliest days of Yelland & Papps, the relationships with longstanding Barossa wine growing families with a reputation for excellent farming and the highest quality grapes formed the foundation of the fledgling wine business.

These long-term friendships with many of the region’s best wine growers, each farming their wines on a selection of the famous terroirs that we have recognised across the Barossa, give Michael and Susan boundless options as they compose their individual wines each year.

The purchase of their beloved Nuraip Road property in 2010, with it’s own estate vineyards and winery sheds offered increased options for quality control and took Yelland & Papps to the next level as their soulful and thoughtfully produced wines garnered much praise from wine critics and a legion of fans who enjoy purely-fruited, minimal-intervention wines from Australia’s most famous wine region.

Today, Susan & Michael bring up their young family, raise livestock, grow their own produce and produce a range of diverse wines that reflect the intricate soils and microclimates of the Barossa.
