Terroir
0,5 hectare in the Château-Chalon appellation, but classified as Côtes-du-Jura as not produced as Vin Jaune. South-east exposure on 300m altitude. Vines are 40 years old and planted in the middle of the hillside with a protection from the wind. Grey marl. A terroir with a lot of character, strenght and minerality.
Vinification
Natural fermentation. Maturation in used Burgundy oak barrels (225L) for approx. 12-15
months. Final blending and maturation for 3-6 months. No filtration, no clarification. Beaumont is « ouillé » which means that the oakbarrels have been topped up.
About the Jura Wine Region
Jura wine is French wine produced in the Jura département. Located between Burgundy and Switzerland, this cool climate wine region produces wines with some similarity to Burgundy and Swiss wine. The majority of the region’s vineyards are found at altitudes between 820 and 1,310 ft (250-400 m) between the plains of the Bresse region and the Jura Mountains.
